Geraldine Smith

Geraldine H. Smith Entered into eternal peace on Thursday, May 29, 2025 at Glens Falls Hospital. She was 97.

Born in Mechanicville on June 27, 1927, Daughter of the late Robert L. Gaudette and Eudora (D’Avignon) Gaudette.

Geraldine worked as a bookkeeper for most of her working career. Known as Gerry, she was a kind, loving and caring soul. She loved to knit and crochet. She enjoyed taking pictures and being with family.

In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by her Son Lawrence Murphy. Jr, Daughter-in-law Diane (Sirchia) Murphy. Brother, Fredrick (Edna) Gaudette, and her sister, Shirley (William) Mehan, her first husband Lawrence Murphy, and late husband Kenneth Smith along with many brothers and sisters in laws.

Survivors include her son, Robert Murphy of Schuylerville, her sister Louise (Kenneth) Patenaude of Stillwater, granddaughter, Nicole (Patrick) Benware and their children Aubry and Wyatt of Stillwater, her step children Robbin Stokes of Michigan, Noel (William) Ireland of Australia, Allison Wheeler of Cambridge and Charles (Michele) Smith of Gansevoort, as well as the many, many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews and extended family.

Visiting will be on Wednesday, June 11, 2025 from 12noon – 1:00pm at the Chase-Smith Family Funeral Home, 729 Hudson Avenue, Stillwater. Inurnment will be at 2:00pm at the Gerald B. H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery.
