Genoa Lakes Ladies’ Golf Club Memorial & Charity Tournament raises $1,500 for Carson Valley Community Food Closet

The Genoa Lakes Ladies’ Golf Club (GLLGC) recently held the Louise Bell Memorial Golf Tournament to honor and remember the GLLGC members who have passed away since the club was organized in 1996. Louise Bell was one of the founders of the club and was a member until her death in 2024.

The weekly buy-in for the tournament, plus additional donations from GLLGC members, was designated for donation to the Carson Valley Community Food Closet. The club raised $1,500, which was presented to representatives of the Food Closet on September 17 by GLLGC President, Susan MacDonald, and Memorial Tournament and Charity Day organizer, Jeanne Fadem.

GLLGC has supported numerous charities with Charity Day tournaments over the years. Among the charities supported are Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, Northern Nevada Children’s Cancer Fund, PGA Junior Golf, Honor Flight of Nevada, Food Bank of Northern Nevada, Friends of Genoa, Nation’s Finest, and Carson Tahoe Health.

Membership in the Genoa Lakes Ladies’ Golf Club is open to women golfers 18 and over. The 2025 season will end October 14. The 2026 season will tee off on Tuesday, April 7. A guest day for prospective members will be planned in April. For more information, contact GLLGC president, Susan MacDonald, at genoaladiesgolf@gmail.com.
