Gary Rivers

Gary L. Rivers 77 of Holcombe, WI. passed away peacefully at home with family by his side and in the care of St. Croix Hospice.
Gary was born on October 25th, 1947 to George Rivers II and Irene Murphy.
He grew up in the Cornell area and graduated from Cornell High School in 1966 and later attended and graduated from UW-Eau Claire.
Gary was united in marriage to Susan Knez on August 10th, 1968 at Holy Cross Catholic Church Cornell, WI. following marriage Gary was employed for 30 plus years for the Rusk County Department of Health and Human Services.
He enjoyed camping, golfing, traveling and spending time with family and friends.
Gary is survived by his Sons Ryan (Heather) Rivers of Oak Grove, MN. and Nathan (Jennifer) Rivers of Eau Claire, WI.; Grandchildren Darien, Devin, Isaac, Carly, Wyatt and Brett; Great Grandchildren Tatum and Davis; Brothers Dennis (Betty) Rivers of Cornell, WI and Mike Rivers of Cornell, WI. Also survived by several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his Parents George Rivers II and Irene Rivers; Wife Susan Rivers;
and a Brother George Rivers III and his wife Karen.
A Special Thank you to St. Croix Hospice and Staff for their wonderful care.
A Celebration of Life will be held from 1:00 PM-3:00 PM on Saturday, July 12th, 2025 at the Borton-Leiser Funeral Home Cornell 220 S. 7th Street Cornell, WI.
Inurnment will be in the Cornell Cemetery at a later date.
