Gary Ogami

Gary Masaru Ogami passed away on Thursday, September 18, 2025, surrounded by his family after experiencing a stroke on September 9, 2025. He was 59 years old.

 He was born on January 9, 1966, in San Mateo, California. Gary was raised in San Mateo and graduated from Aragon High School in the Class of 1984. He enjoyed his high school days: playing the Center position for the football team, being active with the yearbook club, and starting his very first band with fellow students. He graduated UC Berkeley and earned a Bachelor’s Degree in History and Legal Studies. 

In 1997, he celebrated his marriage to Caryn, and they began their life together in Folsom, California. For the next five years, they worked to build their careers at Franklin Templeton. In 2002, they moved to Scottsdale, Arizona, as Gary transitioned his career into the mortgage industry, and established his own company, Pinnacle Peak Lending. In 2004, they welcomed their twin girls, Caitlyn and Natalie, who were his ultimate pride and joy. 

Gary was an avid sports fan and memorabilia collector of the San Francisco 49ers and Giants. His passions also included playing the piano and listening to a diverse array of music from all genres which brought him so much joy. He also enjoyed both Star Wars and Star Trek for the underlying messages about society and politics that were written into their story lines.Often times, he would connect their plots to recent news events which were often discussed at the dinner table. Within the past few years, Gary became an active member of the CrossFit community and participated in classes five days a week. 

Anyone who had the pleasure of knowing him would comment on his beautiful smile and warm, kind spirit. He was the person that always let you know everything was going to be okay, no matter the circumstances, and he did everything within his power to support everyone around him. 

He is survived by his Mom, Mary Yetsuko Ogami. Wife, Caryn Ogami and two beautiful daughters, Caitlyn Emiko Ogami and Natalie Yetsuko Ogami. He was a one of a kind, genuine person and he will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him. 

For those local to the Arizona area, services will be held on Friday, October 3, 2025 at 1:00pm. Messinger Indian School Mortuary. 7601 E. Indian School Rd. Scottsdale 

Services will also be held in California for his family, with more details to follow when arrangements have been made.
