Garrett Carte
Garrett Thurston Carte, 83, passed from this world to his heavenly home on June 30, 2025. Garrett was a loving husband, wonderful dad, and a beloved grandfather and great-grandfather.
Garrett served in the United States Air Force from 1962-1966. He retired from the West Virginia Air National Guard in 2001 with 38 years of service having served as a mechanic on C-130 aircraft and a flight line supervisor with a rank of Senior Master Sergeant. He was a veteran of the Persian Gulf War.
Garrett was preceded in death by his parents, Thrush “Flick” Carte and Fannie Mae Carte; sister, Verta Ruth Johnson; brother, Theodore Carte; niece, Teresa Artinger and his loving wife of 60 years, Sandra Kay Carte.
Garrett is survived by two sons, Garrett Jr. (Ronda) of Hurricane and Michael (Caroline) of Charleston; four grandsons, Daniel (Mallory) of Clemmons, NC, Jared (Clarissa) of Carnegie, PA, Aaron and Jonah both of Charleston; two great-grandsons, Bo and Teddy of Clemmons, NC and a host of nieces and nephews.
A member of Witcher Baptist Church, Garrett faithfully attended Esta Memorial Baptist Church for the last 24 years. His church family was near to his heart.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday July 5 at 11:00 AM at Fidler and Frame Funeral Home in Belle. Friends may visit at 10:00 AM. Reverend Randy Wilson of Esta Memorial Baptist Church will officiate. Interment will follow in Kanawha Valley Memorial Gardens, Glasgow, with Military Rites.
