Gallery: Carson City’s Southwest Gas Foundation unveils new large-scale community mural celebrating the beauty of Nevada’s deserts

In support of the Carson City Murals & Music Festival and to highlight Southwest Gas’ ongoing commitment to enriching the communities it serves, on Saturday, September 20, the Southwest Gas Foundation unveiled a new desert-themed mural at the Southwest Gas Carson City Operations Center.

Located at 400 Eagle Station Lane and spanning the corner of Koontz Lane and Silver Sage Drive, the colorful artwork was commissioned by the foundation through Reno-based artist and U.S. military veteran Edwin Martinez-Escobar and captures the beauty of Nevada’s diverse desert landscape.

Martinez-Escobar has completed numerous public artworks across northern Nevada and is recognized for his vibrant large-scale pieces that celebrate local culture and community pride.

The mural was one of fifteen public art projects completed as part of the 3rd Annual Carson City Murals & Music Festival, presented by the Brewery Arts Center, from September 15–21, 2025.
