Gail Hirschberg
- May 9, 2024

Gail Carol Hirschberg, aged 72, of East Windsor, New Jersey, passed away peacefully on May 7, 2024. Born on July 21, 1951, in Brooklyn, New York, Gail was the beloved daughter of Lou and Selma, and a cherished sister to Paula.
Gail’s childhood in Brooklyn was short but memorable before her family relocated to Great Neck, Long Island. There, surrounded by the loving embrace of her family, Gail blossomed into a passionate individual with a zest for life and learning.
A devout Messianic Jew, Gail’s faith deeply influenced her personal and professional life. Her career as a dedicated teacher touched the lives of countless students, guiding them with patience, wisdom, and kindness. Beyond her professional achievements, Gail was an incredibly gifted pianist, her music filling the homes and hearts of those around her with joy and beauty. Many people said she was the best pianist they had ever heard.
Gail spent the majority of her years in the Princeton Area where she continued to inspire those around her with her unwavering spirit and generosity. Her legacy lives on through her children, Matthew Carswell and Loriann Carswell, and her daughter in law Leah Carswell who remember her as a guiding light and a source of unconditional love. She was a doting grandmother to three grandchildren, Elizabeth, Rose, and Henry, who will miss her dearly.
Gail will be laid to rest at Mount Ararat Cemetery in Lindenhurst, Long Island. Her life and memory will forever be cherished by her family, friends, and all who were fortunate enough to know her.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to a charity of choice in Gail’s memory. A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held at 1pm on Friday May 10th at the Star of David memorial chapel at 40 Vandeventer ave in Princeton, NJ. There we will honor her memory and the profound impact she had on our lives.
