Gail Churchill

Gail Ann Churchill, 75, of Springfield, passed away, Monday, September 29, 2025, surrounded by family. She was born on September 11, 1950, in Carlinville, IL, the daughter of Ronald and Helen (Stevens) Briggs.

She is survived by her son, Shane Mefford of Howell, MI; mother, Helen Briggs of Springfield; three grandchildren, Sierra, Drew and Lexy Mefford; two sisters, Lynette Rhodes and Jill Brillhart, both of Springfield and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her father; son, Brandon Mefford and brother, Jerry Briggs.

Gail was a member of Together Church on North Grand. She retired from State of Illinois EPA after 22 years of service. She was an avid admirer of hot air balloons.
