Greenhouse Garden Center in Carson City is bringing the heat this July with a full calendar of community events.

“July is a turning point in the garden,” said David Ruf, owner of Greenhouse Garden Center. “The choices we make now from water management to pest control can make or break the rest of the season. Our July classes focus on what matters most: keeping plants thriving and protecting your investment.”

The July gardening seminar schedule includes pollinators, pumpkins and pond maintenance. Admittance to gardening seminars is $5 per person and all proceeds will go to a local nonprofit at the end of the year.

Bonsai Club meeting Saturday, July 5 at 11 a.m., led by local bonsai expert Ken Jones. Gardeners of all levels are welcome to drop in and learn the art of cultivating miniature trees.

“Hummingbirds & Butterflies,” takes place Sunday, July 13 at 10:30 a.m. Join pollinator advocate Tiffany for a lively look at native plants and garden designs that bring life, color, and flight to your backyard. Registration is $5 and includes handouts and plant suggestions.

“Pumpkin Troubleshooting” Saturday, July 19 at 10:30 a.m. This seminar offers tips for growing the healthiest, happiest gourds in time for fall festivities.

“Deer and Rabbit Resistant Plants,” is scheduled for Saturday, July 26 at 10 a.m. Participants will explore plant varieties and design strategies to keep critters at bay without harsh chemicals.

“Summer Pond Maintenance” with Ruf Sunday, July 27, at 10 a.m. explores ways to keep ponds clean and clear through the summer heat.

Admission price for seminars and workshops is $5 per person and all proceeds will be donated to a local charity.
