Fred Gallagher Jr.
Fred Bernard Gallagher, Jr, 80, of North Canton, Ohio, passed away peacefully on July 15, 2025. Born in Canton to the late Fred Bernard Gallagher, Sr and Violet (Woodburn) Gallagher on September 18,1944. He is also proceeded in death by the love of his life, Janice (McBride) Gallagher in 2018 after spending 49 years of marriage. Also proceeded in death his siblings: Michael, Andrew, Phillip, and Amy. He was a 1962 graduate of Canton Central Catholic and loved attending the reunions. He was a Navy Veteran serving in Vietnam from 1963 to 1967. He was a proud veteran and would say “Welcome Home Brother” to those he knew served. Fred was a proud member of the Buckeye Corvette Club and served as the parade organizer for years. He started the Buckeye Princess program. He loved making kids feel special and thousands of little girls in Stark County wore the Buckeye Princess sash and tiara in various parades. At Christmas, he loved to play Santa. He went to many homes and events throughout the years and all that were on his list to visit on Christmas Eve and around the holidays cherished his visit. Fred loved to create beautiful masterpieces with his woodworking skills. He made little phone magnets, and he always had a container of them in his car so he could pass out to waitresses, and he loved seeing their expression when he handed it to them.
Fred is survived by his children Samantha Meyer (Tim Lidderdale), Sherry (Travis) Huffine, Stephanie (Jeff) Watzman, and bonus son Fred Meyer. Grandchildren: Travis Jr (Halee) Huffine, Claire (Sam) Hillyer, Shelby (Maverick) Wilkinson, Warren, and Charlotte Watzman. Great Grandchildren: Tommy Wilkinson, Dottie Lou and Samson Hillyer, Harrison Huffine, and baby Huffine due October 2025. Siblings: Catherine, Rosie, Maureen, David, Susan, Brenda, Joan, Theresa, Judy, and Margie. Fred will also be missed by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Fred’s family would like to extend sincere gratitude to his neighbors who became family: Ray and Carol Hall, and Bill and Connie Wojcik. Thank you for always keeping an eye out on dad.
His Funeral Service will be held Saturday, July 19, 2025 at 11am at Reed Funeral Home NORTH CANTON Chapel (801 Pittsburg Ave. NW, North Canton 44720) with burial following in Warstler Cemetery. Calling hours will be Friday at the funeral home from 6pm to 8pm and one hour prior to the service on Saturday from 10am to 11am. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Fred’s name to Wishes Can Happen. If you are planning on attending services, please celebrate Fred by driving your classic car or corvette.
