Francis Daugherty

Francis Virginia McLain Daugherty, 86, of White Hall, went to be with the Lord, Wednesday, October 1, 2025. She was born on October 26, 1938, in Laurel, Mississippi, to Claude McLain and Frances Lindsey McLain.

Francis was raised in Covington, Louisiana. She graduated from high school, and her true adventure began as she attended cosmetology school, nursing school, and clown school. Francis was a domestic engineer who thrived as a caretaker for all who graced her doorstep. Her home was home to all that needed a place to swim, build, explore, or belong. Along with the care she showed for the countless grandchildren who graced her doorstep during summers and throughout the year, she shared her knowledge of plants and animals with so many around her, as she was a certified master gardener and a local wildlife rehabilitator. Along with her love for plants and animals, she was a voracious reader who loved helping others learn to read and shared her gifts by serving on the Literacy Council. She was also a member of Hardin Baptist Church.

Survivors include her son, Henry Daugherty; daughters, Katrinka Daugherty Jett and Faith Wurl Smith (Jim); grandchildren, Phillip Moore, James Moore (Makenzie), Stephanie Withrow (Chris), Jon Matthew Jett (Kim), Samantha Jett (Jason Anderson), Jessy Wittig (Stacey), Jeremy Daniels (Shannon), Gina Ball, Elanore Lollar, Alisa Flores (Adam), Jonathan Lollar (Kateri), Anna Lollar, Jordan Wurl (Kirbi), Kellie Preston; her sister, Barbara Stamps; 23 great grandchildren, and countless extended family that knew her lovingly as “Grandma Daugherty.”

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Robert Henry Daugherty, whom she married on June 17, 1960; her daughter, Melody Lollar; her son-in-law, Robert Lollar; her brother, John McLain; and her sister, Elizabeth Young.

Funeral services will be held at Hardin Baptist Church on Saturday, October 4th, 2024. Visitation will take place from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm, with the funeral beginning at 3:00 pm, and burial will follow directly after the services at Hardin Reed Cemetery. The family does request that bright colors or animal prints be worn to the service.
