UPDATE: Forward progress has been stopped on a brush fire Sunday afternoon near Holbrook Junction South of Gardnerville. According to Douglas County, State Route 208 is open in both directions as of 2:42 p.m.
East Fork Fire Protection District, Carson City Fire Department and other agencies were called early Sunday afternoon to a brush fire burning near Holbrook Junction, south of Gardnerville.
The fire, reported at around noon, is estimated to be around a 3/4 of an acre and had been moving at a moderate rate of spread. However, smoke from the fire has eased since the fire broke out earlier as seen from the Alert Wildfire cam here.
According to Eastern Sierra Fire and Ice, which tracks fires in the region, the fire is burning in medium fuels and additional ground and air resources were requested. No structures are threatened at this time, per incident command.
State Route 208 is closed in both directions.
We will update as information becomes available.
