It is with great joy and earthly sorrow that we share the passing from earth to heaven of our mom, Fay Mary Johnson.
Mom was born in Hawaii to Captain Horatio Alonzo (USN) And Fay Mary (Adams) Lincoln. As the daughter of a Naval officer at that time, she moved extensively during her life. Mom moved from Illinois to California the day after she graduated from High School! She ended up in Lafayette, CA, where she married our Dad, Lester Marc Johnson and there she stayed until her death at the beautiful age of 92!
Mom was active in many areas as a volunteer: Girl Scouts, Youth Homes, Berkeley Police Wives, the Lafayette Escadrille Square Dance Club, PTA, Bible Study Fellowship (where she gave her life to Jesus as her Savior), Community Bible Study and as a Deaconess at Grace Bible Church, just to name a few. She lived most of her life as a homemaker. She did sell Avon for many years and was employed as a Clinique Representative at Bullocks/Nordstrom. She worked for a time at Linda Sy Skin Care in Lafayette.
Mom was a vibrant and very social woman interacting with friends, family, and her wonderful neighbors up until her death. She was diagnosed with colon cancer in April 2025… she spent the next three months trying to combat and eventually being overtaken physically by the cancer. Until the day she left earth for heaven, she was “our mom” and we are extremely thankful for that. At times in her last days, she seemed to have a toe into heaven and then a toe back to earth courageously wondering and navigating between the two. She was able to visit with family and friends which was her desire; and, while she didn’t “die in her sleep” as was her wish, she left peacefully in the presence of family on the morning of July 13, 2025.
Mom left a legacy of “Fay loved everyone” with family—4 kids…grandkids (11) and great grands (18) and a fairly large extended family. Her memorial service will be held Friday August 8th, 1 pm at Grace Bible Church in Pleasant Hill, California. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made in her honor to her favorite charities:
