Eugene Duffey, Jr.

Eugene Arnold Duffey Jr., 80, of Clear Spring, MD, passed away Friday, February 14, 2025, at his home surrounded by his family.

Born May 8, 1944, in Waynesboro, PA, he was the son of the late Eugene Arnold Duffey Sr. and Mildred Marie (Shupp) Duffey.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Elsie M. (Baker) Duffey, in 2016.

Eugene was a 1962 graduate of Clear Spring High School and a veteran of the US Army, serving during the Vietnam War.

He was a truck driver for Hagerstown Motor Express, PIE Nationwide, Lily, and lastly retiring from General Electric.

Eugene previously attended Calvary Temple in Williamsport and was a lifetime member of the Joseph C. Herbert Post 222 American Legion.  

In his spare time, he enjoyed playing bingo at the legion on Tuesday evenings and spending time with his family.

Eugene is survived by two daughters, Joan Kershner and husband, Jeff, and Ellen Martin and husband, Brent; a grandson, Samuel Forrester and wife, Brielle; two sisters, Joanne Duffey and Evelyn “Jeannie” Duffey; two brothers, Gale Duffey and Thomas Duffey; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Tina Duffey; and a brother, Kenneth Duffey.

Services will be held on Friday, February 21, 2025, at 11 am at Donald Edwin Thompson Funeral Home, Inc., 13607 National Pike, Clear Spring, MD.  Rev. Bobby Robinson will officiate.  Interment will follow at Shanktown Cemetery in Big Pool, MD.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday evening from 6 to 8 pm.  For the convenience of friends, you may visit the funeral home after noon.  

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
