Emma McGinnis
Emma Lou McGinnis, 85, of Harrisville, WV, departed this life Thursday, October 9, 2025 at her residence surrounded by her loved ones.
She was born December 15, 1939 in Cairo, WV, a daughter of the late Lawrence and Opal (Bircher) Lowther.
Emma worked as a seamstress at multiple locations of the Ritchie County Garment Factories. In her later years she worked at the Flower
Basket in Harrisville. Emma was a long-time member of the Harrisville Assembly of God and the Harrisville Woman’s Club. She enjoyed square dancing and sewing.
She is survived by her loving son, Brian McGinnis (Kembelene) of Harrisville, WV; grandson, Daniel Ray McGinnis (Kendra) of St. Marys, WV; great grandchildren, Lydia, Ivy, and Eliza McGinnis, and Gunner James; and sister, Betty Sheets (Dick) of Greenwood, WV.
In addition to
Emma’s parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Harold, Paul, Ronald, and Eddie Lowther; sister, Eileen Truman; and special friend, Denver Black.
The family would like to thank the wonderful caregivers, Mary Hodge, Vickie and Clay Mossor, Kem McGinnis, Carol Ray McGinnis, Debbie Coontz, Laura May Reynolds.
According to her wishes, Emma’s services will be private. She will be buried at the Cairo I.O.O.F. Cemetery.
