Ella Schneider

Ella E. Schneider, of Philadelphia, passed away on September 22, 2025, at the age of 88. She was the beloved wife of Charles “Chalie” Schneider, with whom she shared 66 years of marriage.

Ella was the devoted mother of Chuck Schneider (Kathryn), Jim Schneider (Laurie), and Jean Schneider; the loving grandmother of Richard (Stephanie), Melanie, Margaret, Blair, Mark; and the cherished great-grandmother of Richard and Cameron. She was predeceased by her siblings Joseph, Arthur, Mitchell, Josephine, and Charles.

Born to Joseph and Emma Ignarski and raised in West Philadelphia, Ella was a proud graduate of Little Flower High School, Class of 1956. In her younger years, she worked as a waitress at Horn & Hardart, where she met her husband, Chalie. Together, they built a beautiful life and family over the course of their 66 years of marriage. She also worked for The Toner Organization and Angelo Brothers.

Ella was an active member of the Far Northeast Senior Citizen Center, where she enjoyed spending time with friends and her community.

Family and friends are invited to Ella’s Life Celebration on Thursday, October 2, from 9:00–10:00 AM at St. Martha’s Church, 11301 Academy Road, Philadelphia, PA 19154. A Funeral Mass will follow at 10:00 AM, with interment at Washington Crossing National Cemetery at 11:30 AM.
