Elizabeth Cuevas De Mesa, a beloved matriarch, passed away on March 22, 2025, in Fontana, California. Born on February 16, 1940 to Teresa Sanchez and Luis Cuevas. Her vibrant spirit and boundless love for her family marked every moment of her life.
Elizabeth was the heart of a large and loving family, defined by her role as a daughter, mother, grandmother, and a loyal sister to Raciel Cuevas, Ana Cuevas, Conrado Cuevas and Rodolfina Dellinger. She held an unwavering pride in her childrenJose Luis Lopez, Rosa Madero, Magdalena Zelaya, Rita Rivera, Mara Isabel Meza, Angel Lopez, Juan Cuevas and Ana Lopezwhose accomplishments were a source of great joy for her. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren, a remarkable group carried the legacy of her love, humor, and warmth.
One of the most cherished memories shared by her grandchildren was walking with her a few miles to St. Emydius Church on Sundays. These walks were not just a routine; they became cherished moments infused with laughter, camaraderie, and the sweet promise of burgers from Bobos afterward. They remember her standing outside, unwavering, waving goodbye until they were completely out of sight, a picture of love that said more than words ever could. It was these small yet precious moments that painted her life with layers of happiness, ensuring no one felt lonely, regardless of the distance between them.
Elizabeth was a woman of deep faith, celebrated for her commitment to God, which was the cornerstone of her life. Her prayers were a tapestry of love and blessings woven for her entire family, as she ardently sought protection and guidance for each of them. She found solace in the presence of God and shared that peace with those around her, a true testament to her character. Her fondness for visiting Mexico to see her brother and her enjoyment of shopping trips with her daughters spoke to a life well-lived, filled with cherished relationships.
Those who knew Elizabeth could not help but be drawn to her infectious laughter and her vibrant storytelling. A woman with a strong opinion who was never shy about sharing her thoughts, she effortlessly blended wisdom with a delightful sense of humor. Her love for gossip sessions kept her family entertained, and her unapologetic nature allowed everyone in her life to experience her affection deeply.
While she is mourned by her siblings Conrado Cuevas and Rodolfina Dellinger, alongside her children and an expansive lineage of grandchildren, her spirit lives on in each of them, a testament to the love she nurtured throughout her life.

A viewing will be held on April 4, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Fontana Mortuary, located at 8030 Mango Avenue, Fontana, CA. A Mass celebrating her life will take place on April 5, 2025, at 9:00 AM, at St. George’s Catholic Church, located at 17895 San Bernardino Ave, Fontana, CA.
