Elizabeth “Betty” Sarah Locke, 72, of Hale Road, Canton died Saturday, July 19, 2025 at St. Regis Rehabilitation and Nursing Home in Massena.

Interment will be in Fairview Cemetery in Canton at a later date.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Lawrence Valley SPCA Shelter.

Betty was a born a daughter to the late Joseph Richard and Marion Francis (Davenport) St. Andrews in Ogdensburg NY on April 21, 1953.  She was raised in Waddington and attended Madrid-Waddington Central School.  The family later moved to a farm in Canton NY on State Highway 68.

On October 16, 1971 she married Lawrence Michael Locke.  The couple were married 52 years.

In addition to her husband Lawrence, she is survived by a son Joel and wife Kathleen Locke of Tupper Lake NY; four brothers: Joey, Roy, Richard and Donald St. Andrews; two sisters: Virginia Hellinger  and Lisa Sharlow; a granddaughter Denise and husband Jimmy Taylor; four great-grandchildren: Isaac, Anabelle, Alice and Liam; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was predeceased by her parents, a brother Robert St. Andrews and a sister Kathy Davenport.

Betty was a past member of Calvary Baptist Church in Canton.  She was fond of knitting, vegetable gardening, farm life, her chickens, cooking for family dinners and she especially loved her dogs.
