Elizabeth “Libby” Gallagher

Elizabeth (Libby) Ann Gallagher passed away October 31, 2025 from a brief illness.
She is pre-deceased by her parents Kathleen R. and Thomas R. Gallagher, her brother
Thomas Gallagher, Uncle James J. A. Gallagher, and niece Kathleen McAndrews.
Libby is survived by her brothers, James (Cathy) Gallagher of Crownsville, MD, Timothy
(Loretta) Gallagher of Eastport, MD, and Mark (Kathryn) Gallagher of Hanover, MA,
fifteen nieces and nephews, and twenty great nieces and nephews.
Libby was a devout Catholic and doting aunt to her nieces, nephews and great nieces
and nephews. She graduated from Saint Ambrose grade school Cheverly, MD, Notre
Dame Academy high school, Washington, D.C., and Spalding (Nazareth) College.
Libby’s career at the Department of Justice spanned over 30 years serving under
multiple attorney generals. Her expertise in the Office of Public Affairs as the Assistant
Director earned her the outstanding service award at her 30th Anniversary.
Libby’s private life served as another example of her service for others. Libby devoted her
personal life to caring for her family, friends and many who were in need.
The funeral Mass will be celebrated November 12, 2025 at Sacred Heart at 11:00 AM
at Sacred Heart Catholic Church Chapel, 16501 Annapolis Road, Bowie, MD
celebration of Lib’s life – in her wishes – a good “Irish Wake” – will follow the funeral
Mass.
