Elia Rubio, age 54, of Plano, IL, passed away on Tuesday, July 29, 2025, at Rush Copley Medical Center in Aurora, IL, surrounded by her loved ones. She was born on August 9, 1970, in Aguililla, Mexico, the daughter of Gabriel and Maria Guadalupe (Valencia) Rodriguez.
Elia was united in marriage on September 16, 1993, to Deacon Fernando Rubio, and they spent the next 31 years happily together. She was a long-time and devoted member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Plano, IL. Elia was a volunteer coordinator and organizer for the Kendall County Community Food Pantry Plano Satellite, where she found great fulfillment in serving her community. Her love for helping others was evident in everything she did.
For many years, Elia worked with Fox Valley Older Adults, a job that brought her so much joy as she truly felt she had found her calling. Whether she was supporting the older adults she cared for or making a difference in her community, Elia’s compassion and dedication were unmatched.
Elia also had a deep passion for cooking. She loved preparing homemade meals for her family and friends, filling their hearts and homes with warmth and flavor. Her cooking was a way she showed love, and every meal she made was a reflection of her care and generosity.
She was also a loving wife, mother, daughter, sister, and grandmother to her beloved granddogs Duchess, Kaia Lin, Darby Rae, Obie, and Frankie, who brought her endless joy. Elia will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all those whose lives she touched.
She is survived by her children, Isabel (Robert Quinones) Rubio, Jasmine Rubio, Nataly (Immanuel Cervantes) Rubio, and Isaiah Rubio; her husband, Fernando Rubio of Plano, IL; her mother, Maria Guadalupe Rodriguez of Vacaville, CA; her siblings, Ismelda (Owsvaldo) Oseguera, Gabriella (Guadalupe) Rodriguez, Juan (Nelly Pina) Rodriguez, Armando Rodriguez, and Christopher Rodriguez; and her many nieces and nephews.
Elia was preceded in death by her daughter, Angela Rubio; her father, Gabriel Rodriguez; and her brother, Jose Rodriguez.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, August 1, 2025, at St. Mary Catholic Church, 1001 N. Center Ave, Plano, IL. Interment will follow in Little Rock Township Cemetery in Plano, IL.
Friends may visit from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Thursday, July 31, 2025, at St. Mary Catholic Church, 1001 N. Center Ave, Plano, IL.
