Eileen Lynch, of Brewster, NY, died on September 29, 2025 peacefully at her home. She was 94 years old. Eileen was born on July 19, 1931, in Ballycurrane, Dingle, County Kerry Ireland, daughter of the late Sean and Brigid (O’Connor) Leahy.
In 1954 Eileen emigrated to the United States to work near Hartford, CT where she had other family members from Ireland. On April 18, 1959, she married the love of her life, John J Lynch at St. Justin’s Church in Hartford, CT. Together they moved to NYC and later, in 1973, to Brewster, NY where they created a life of faith, family, and love.
Eileen was a true servant of Christ. She put Christ at the center of everything she did. As a wife to her husband, John, and as a dedicated mother to her four sons, John, James, Thomas, and Patrick, she exemplified a simple faith that offered an example of prayer, devotion to her family, generosity to others and an acceptance of God’s will in her life. As such she radiated a unique joy, beauty and warmth that made everyone who met her: love her. Her dedication to the Rosary and the Eucharist gave Eileen powerful resilience, that when she met with misfortune, she always had an inner strength to overcome life’s challenges. Eileen and her husband John were devoted Catholics and active parishioners of St. Lawrence O’ Toole Church since moving to Brewster in 1973. Eileen was a remarkably giving person and a notable example of unwavering faith, love and commitment to her family. She was truly the heart of the Lynch family.
Eileen is survived by her children; John M. Lynch and his wife Linda of Watertown, CT, Thomas G. Lynch and his wife Janine of Sarver, PA, Patrick F. Lynch and his wife Katherine of New Fairfield, CT, and her daughter-in-law Mary Liz Lynch of New Rochelle, NY, her grandchildren; John L. Lynch, Michael P. Lynch (Meredith), Conor P. Lynch (Kelly), Patrick W. Lynch, Brendan T. Lynch, Matthew E. Lynch, Kevin J. Lynch, James R. Lynch, Daniel M. Lynch, and Jeannine E. Lynch, and her great granddaughter, Isla R. Lynch (Conor & Kelly). Eileen was predeceased by her husband John and her son James (Jim) and her siblings, Mary Leahy, Michael Leahy, Thomas Leahy, Hannah Leahy, Margaret (Leahy) Bruic, and James Leahy.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on October 4, 2025, at 11:00 AM at St. Lawrence O’Toole Church, Prospect Street, Brewster. Interment will follow at St. Lawrence O’Toole Cemetery, Brewster. Visitation will be held on October 3, 2025, at Beecher Funeral Home, 1 Putnam Avenue, Brewster, NY from 4:00 PM-8:00 PM.
