Egbert Franklin Williams, 93. Of Orange Park, Florida passed away peacefully on June 26, 2025, leaving a legacy of dedication to family and country. He was born on August 8, 1931, in Princeton, North Carolina, to Oscar Henry Williams and Bettie Elizabeth Worley Williams,

Egbert attended Micro High School before embarking on a distinguished career in the United States Coast Guard, proudly serving his country for 29 years. After retiring from the Coast Guard, he continued his maritime service with the American Bureau of Shipping.

Egbert married the love of his life, Rita Teresa Burns, in October 1958. Their marriage spanned 61 wonderful years until her passing on February 12, 2019. Together, they built a life filled with family gatherings, laughter, and lasting memories.

Known for his engaging storytelling, Egbert enjoyed sharing sea stories over a Coors Light, taking his boat out on the water, and participating in competitive activities such as shooting pool, playing bridge, and darts. His warm presence and quick wit will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

Egbert was preceded in death by his parents, Oscar Henry Williams and Bettie Elizabeth Worley Williams; his beloved wife, Rita Williams; and siblings, Cleo Williams, Melda Lynn, George Williams, Marie Trower, Oscar Leon Williams, and Ray Williams.

He is survived by his loving children, John Williams, David Williams, and Nancy Williams; grandchildren, Eric Williams, Kathryn Nelson, Jessica Williams, and James Williams and great-grandchildren Ava Nelson, Wesley Nelson, Jackson Williams, and Lain Williams. Egbert also leaves behind siblings Joyce Woodard, Doug Williams, and Curt Williams, along with many cherished cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Egbert Franklin Williams will forever be remembered for his steadfast devotion to his family, friends, and country. His legacy lives on in the hearts of all who loved him.

A celebration of Egbert’s life will be held at 11:00am, Tuesday, July 8, 2025 in the Jacksonville Memory Gardens Chapel. The family will receive friends from 10:00am until service time. The graveside portion of the service will be held at 2:30pm at Jacksonville National Cemetery. All who choose to attend, please pull in to procession lane two.
