Mansfield – Edwin Shears, age 75, of Mansfield, passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday, September 25, 2025.

He was born February 8, 1950, in Mansfield to parents Raymond and Juanita (Beeman) Shears. Edwin graduated from Madison High School with the class of 1968. Right after graduating, he joined the United States Marine Corps and proudly served his county in Vietnam.

Upon returning, Edwin worked as a tool and die maker and CNC machinist with Springfield Mold & Die, where he dedicated many years of his career.

In his younger years, he enjoyed riding motorcycles and the freedom of the open road and was in a motorcycle club. In his free time, Edwin enjoyed cheering on The Ohio State Buckeyes and Cleveland Browns (and more recently the Kansas City Chiefs). He enjoyed spending quiet afternoons watching golf on TV. He enjoyed scratch off tickets.

He is survived by his wife, Saundra Shears; step children Marie (Paul) Eicher, John (Jessica) Bidinger and Anthony “Tony” (Bethanie) Bidinger; many grandchildren including Jaden Hall; sisters-in-law Cathy Shears and Ruthann Shears; and numerous extended family and friends who will miss him dearly.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by daughter Angela Dawn Shears; brothers Raymond “Ray” Shears and Richard “Rick” Shears.

The family will receive friends Monday, September 29, 2025 from 4-7 pm at the Lexington Avenue Snyder Funeral Home. A graveside service with military honors honoring Edwin’s life will be held Tuesday, September 30, 2025 beginning at 10:30am in Mansfield Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Edwin’s memory may be made to Southern Care Hospice.
