Edwin Reis

It is with deep sorrow that the passing of Edwin Costa Reis is announced . He passed away on June 8th, 2025 at the age of 72 years. Edwin was at Spy glass board and care in Oakley, CA when he died.
Edwin was born on April 25th 1953 on the island of Sao Miguel, Acores Portugal in a village called Varzea. His mother’s name was Olinda Reis (Pereira), and his father ‘s name was Serafim Reis. Edwin first went to school in Varzea, then in the U.S. where he completed high school, and went on to complete his AA at DVC. He later worked as an auto mechanic and learned the trade. That led to working at Walnut Creek Toyota, and then eventually he opened his own shop.
Ed married Katherine on July 21, 1979 at Holy Rosary Church in Antioch, CA.
Edwin loved gardening. This love for gardening came from the village he was raised in, as everyone grew their own food. Ed milked cows in Varzea at a very young age. He learned to work har. His parents came to the U.S. when he was 13 y.o. , he spoke no English and was placed in the fourth grade, but he learned quickly. Ed did well and helped his parents a lot. He did grow the absolute best tomatoes! He grew good oranges as well.
Everyone that knew Ed , knew he could be counted on to be there if they needed his help. He will be deeply missed.
Ed is survived by his wife Katherine (Kathy), and son Lon and Lon’s girlfriend Shana. Ed also has many cousins. Ed is preceded in death by his father in 2001, and his mother in 2024.
Ed believed that hard work and perseverance would pay off. He believed you should always do your best. He loved life, and people.

3351 Contra Loma Blvd., Antioch CA, 94509.
Reception to follow immediately after mass.
Burial: Queen of Heaven Cemetery @ 2:30 pm
