Edward John Therrien passed away peacefully at home on December 23, 2024 at the age of 84. He was born on March 28, 1940 in Glendale, California and his family moved to Alameda, California in 1941. Edward remained a lifelong resident of Alameda, cherishing the community he called home.
From an early age, Edward showed a passion for aviation. At just three years old, his father gave him a toy airplane and it sparked a lifelong love for flying. By the age of 16, he earned his private pilot’s license and became a corporate pilot for Kaiser Industries, a job that allowed him to travel to 66 countries and experience the world. After 16 years in the corporate world, Edward decided to open his own business and founded International Aircraft Services, operating out of the Hayward Airport.
Edward was also passionate about automobiles, particularly Ferraris. In 1974, he bought his first Ferrari and became part of the Ferrari Club of America Pacific Region and the Sports Car Club of America Concours d’Elegance, where he made many lifelong friends.
Edward will always be remembered for his kindness and his gift for making friends wherever he went. His warmth and generosity left a lasting impression on all who knew him.
Edward is survived by his partner, Cindy Scagliola, his sister, Carol Jurczak, his nephew, Anthony Anderson, his nieces Michelle Anderson and Gina Detweiler along with their spouses, as well as several grandnieces and grandnephews.
A service to honor Edward’s life will be held on January 18 at 11:30 AM at Alameda Funeral and Cremation Services located at 1415 Oak St. in Alameda.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America. Harry Greer, Funeral Director (FDR-745)
