Edward Ribson, Jr.

July 29, 2025. Predeceased by his beloved wife, Eve Strella-Ribson; father Edward J. Ribson, Sr.; and mother Victoria K. Ribson. He is survived by his brother, Tom (Deb) Ribson; sisters, Anne O’Heaney and Mary (Ron) Gibson; several nieces, nephews; and great nieces and nephews.

Ed received his BS in Biology from SUNY Brockport and worked at the Monroe County Health Department until his retirement. Ed was an avid amateur astronomer, and with Eve, built the “Stardust” observatory at their home. He and Eve were members of the Rochester Academy of Sciences – Astronomy division and led tours at the University of Rochester Mees Observatory. Ed was also a member of the Vatican Observatory Foundation, the American Astronomical Society, The Royal Astronomical Society Of Canada, and DarkSky International. In addition to stargazing, Ed enjoyed scuba diving with his wife in Hawaii; watching movies and the Buffalo Bills with his long-time friend Rick Berend; and the music of Bob Dylan and Elvis Presley.

The Ribson family would like to thank the staff at Highland Hospital for the care and compassion shown Ed.

Friends may call to the funeral chapel (2305 Monroe Ave.) Sunday, August 3 from 2-5 pm. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Monday, August 4th at 10 am Church of The Transfiguration (50 W Bloomfield Rd. Pittsford, NY). Interment at Ascension Garden Cemetery will take place at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers donations may be directed in his memory to the Michael J.
