Douglas Scott Stacey born September 24 1957, passed away peacefully on September 19 2025, surrounded by his family in Everson, Washington. Doug is survived by his 3 daughters; Melissa (Galen) Klander and Sarah (Cory) Johnson. His grandchildren; Emma, Madison, Briella, Landon, Kaelynn and 7 additional grandchildren. His Mother, Dolores Knutzen (Skillman); his stepmother, Carroll Stacey; his 5 brothers; Norm (Pam), Don (Kristin), Dick, Mike(Teresa) and Rob. He was preceded in death by his father Glenn Stacey and brother Aaron Stacey

Doug had a deep love for his hometown of Nooksack, he was an accomplished high school athlete (number 20) graduating from Nooksack high school in 1976. He always loved good country music, Pendleton whiskey and the great outdoors. In his younger years he worked as a logger, and then began building a career as a Tradesman. He was a diy kind of guy which highlighted his exceptional skill as a carpenter. His craftsmanship is present at the Valley Tap House. In his downtime Doug was an avid outdoorsman. Spending many seasons of his life Deer and Elk hunting, fishing and most of all trail riding with friends and family, on his leopard Appaloosa, Danny. Many of the trails to the old goldmine cabin on Sumas Mountain were made or maintained by Doug and his friends for years. Whenever you find your way along those trails either on foot or hoof, you will see “Doug’s place”, “Sarah’s Ridge” and “Sam’s Trail”. Doug’s memory will always be carved into the mountains in which he loved so deeply. Go rest high on that mountain, cowboy.

A private funeral service will be held at Nooksack Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Backcountry horseman of Washington (Whatcom chapter) or Bellingham Cancer Center.
