Douglas Hill

Douglas Edward Hill, a beloved father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on June 30, 2025, in his hometown of Henderson County, North Carolina, at the age of 70. Born on December 11, 1954, also in Henderson County, Doug lived a life full of love, creativity, and an unwavering warmth that touched everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him.

Doug dedicated much of his life to the construction industry, where he worked as a skilled painter and carpenter. For 25 years, he and his son Joshua operated Trade Wind Paint Co. in Hendersonville, leaving behind beautiful works that will be cherished by many for years to come. Beyond his professional life, Doug was a passionate musician and a talented guitarist. His love for music was only matched by his enthusiasm for collecting guitars. He was also known for his keen eye in finding and collecting arrowheads, a hobby that highlighted his deep appreciation for history and nature.

To all who met him, Doug was simply a “good guy.” His ever-present smile radiated warmth and kindness, and his genuine love for others was evident in every interaction. He brought joy and light into the lives of those around him and was a true testament to the power of a positive spirit. Doug is preceded in death by his loving parents, Billy Hill and Vernia Heatherley Hill. He leaves behind his cherished sons, Joshua Hill and his wife Egan, and Jason Hill and his wife Krista; his adored grandchildren, Seth Hill, River Hill, and Vincent Hill; his devoted brothers, David Hill and his wife Angel, and Jimmy Hill and his wife Cathy; and his niece and nephews, Nova Hill, Amber Hill, and James Billy Hill.

In accordance with his wishes, no formal services will be held. Shuler Funeral Home has the honor of serving the Hill family during this difficult time. Doug’s legacy will forever be carried in the hearts of those who knew him. As we remember his life, let us be inspired by his love, his kindness, and his enduring smile.
