Douglas Clawson
Douglas M. Clawson, age 83, of Jonesborough, Tennessee, passed away peacefully into the arms of Jesus at his home on July 9, 2025. Doug was born in Butler, Tennessee on May 22, 1942 to the late Charles R. Clawson and Bessie Clawson.
Doug attended Piney Grove Free Will Baptist Church where he loved working and fellowshipping with his friends.
Doug was an over the road truck driver for most of his life. He was happiest when he was steering 18 wheelers all over the country, meeting people. Dad was a talker and he never met a stranger. He spent his retirement years working around the house and piddling in his garage. He loved spending time with his family.
He was a loving, caring, husband, dad, poppy, great poppy, brother and friend. Doug was a veteran of the United States Army.
He loved his family and we were truly blessed with the time God loaned him to us.
Doug was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, two sisters, a grandson (Josh), and a son-in-law (Bruce).
Survivors include his loving wife and the love of his life of 60 years, Gerri; three sons, Sam (Lisa) Clawson, Steve (Marlaina) Clawson, and Doug (Sandra) Clawson, Jr.; his daughter, Pam Scholten; his grandchildren, Jessica, Andrew, Caleb, Levi, CD, Haylee, Samantha, Jeremiah and Noah; his great grandchildren, Charlotte, Arabelle, Mabel, Aubreigh, Hazel, Brayden, Chance, Oliver, Addison, Cooper and Harper; two brothers, Ray and Bill; several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law who meant the world to him.
The family will receive friends at Piney Grove Free Will Baptist Church on Saturday, July 12, 2025 from 12:00 PM until 2:00 PM. Friends may also call at the residence at any time.
We would like to thank all of Dad’s caregivers and special folks that helped take care of him.
