Dorothy Sewell

Dorothy Rose Sewell (nee Youngwith), age 98, passed away at Edgerton Care Center on August 8, 2025. She was born on November 6, 1926 in South Beloit, IL, the daughter of Paul and Olga Youngwith. She attended South Beloit High School and graduated in 1945.

On February 12, 1972, she married Melvin C. Sewell in Belvidere, IL. Dorothy worked hard during her life at a variety of interesting jobs over her career, including doing singing-telegrams and retiring as Manager of Father & Son Shoes in Machesny Park in the mid 1990s. Dorothy and Mel relocated from Rockford, IL to Milton, WI in the early 2000’s and enjoyed being closer to Dorothy’s beloved daughter, Debra (Rob) Malewicki. Dorothy was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Milton, WI for many years. She will be especially remembered for her fun and energetic personality, her love of Wisconsin sports, and the care she gave to her adopted pets.

Dorothy is survived by her cherished elderly sister, Willabelle Heilman, her granddaughter, Marissa O’Malley, grandson, Ryan (Nev) Knox, and 4 great grandchildren, Kellan and Kathryn O’Malley, and Sofia and Holden Knox. She was preceded in death by her beloved daughter, Debra Malewicki, and her husband Melvin. A private memorial service will be held at a future date.
