Donna Morel
Donna (Wahl) Morel, 92, of Peru, passed away on Tuesday, May 13, 2025 at Comfort Care Assisting Living in Princeton.
Private graveside services will be held at Peru City Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the Mueller Funeral Home, Peru.
Donna was born on May 31, 1932 in Sterling to C. Everett and Evelyn (Minier) Wahl. She married Richard “Dick” Morel on June 7, 1953 at Princeton United Methodist Church. He passed away on April 18, 2003.
Donna received her Bachelor’s Degree from Northern Illinois University, DeKalb. She worked as a teacher at Peru Catholic School for 30 years. She loved traveling, reading poetry, and spending time with her daughters and grandchildren. She also loved to go to dances and go out to dinner with friends and laugh.
She is survived by three daughters, Jenny (Rick) Buyens of Tinton Falls, NJ, Marsha Gapinski of Peru, and Rhonda Morel of Oceanside, CA; seven grandchildren, Leah and Kendra Gapinski, Riley Fuerstenau, Matt and Claire Buyens, and Jake and Zach Morel; and great-granddaughter, Luella Fuerstenau.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and one sister, Phyllis Stutzman.
Memorial contributions may be directed to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
