Donald Allen Lyon, known affectionately as Donnie to his friends and family, passed away unexpectedly of a heart attack on November 5, 2024, in West Haven, Utah. Born in Euclid, Ohio, on January 8, 1979, Donnie was a man whose laughter and spirit brought light into the lives of all who knew him. Donnie spent his formative years in Ohio, a place he always held dear in his heart. His personality was a vibrant mixture of love, kindness, and humor, traits that endeared him to many throughout his life. After graduating from high school, Donnie honed his skills as a glazer, a profession through which he not only showcased his craftsmanship but also formed lasting friendships with colleagues and members of the community. His leisure time was filled with the simple pleasures of life. Donnie was known for his easy-going nature, often found enjoying a drink and a smoke, or engaging in a lively game of golf. He had a knack for entertaining, frequently hosting gatherings in his backyard where games of dice and cornhole were enjoyed by all. As a dedicated Cleveland Browns fan, he never missed a game, and his infectious enthusiasm for football was a joy to behold. Donnie was the beloved son of Kimberly Takah and Don Wiegand, he was lovingly raised by his adoptive father, Robert Lyon. He leaves behind a legacy of love including his cherished dog Brew, his devoted wife Reyna Gomez, his proud sons Jesus and Oscar Juarez, and his siblings William Lyon, Amy Lyon, and Dana Lyon, along with his brother-in-law Billy McConnaughey and stepmother Tiana Wiegand. His children, Sophia Lyon and Ian Lyon, will carry forward the memory of their father’s boundless love and humor. His childhood friend Josh Calvey, close friends Makoa Ing, Stacy Hilling, and countless others, will miss the joy and laughter Donnie brought into their lives. His absence will be deeply felt, but the memories he created will continue to bring smiles to the faces of those he touched. Described by those who knew him as loving, kind, and funny, Donnie’s presence was a gift to the world. He had an uncanny ability to lighten the mood, often punctuating the morning rush with his signature exclamation, “F**K ALL MIGHTY,” which became a humorous and affectionate reminder to not take life too seriously. In the words of Ralph Waldo Emerson, “To laugh often and much; to win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children… to leave the world a bit better… to know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This is to have succeeded.” Donnie lived by these words, succeeding in making the world a brighter place for those around him.As we bid farewell to Donnie, we celebrate a life filled with laughter, love, and the warmth of a man who knew how to enjoy life’s moments. His spirit will continue to inspire us, reminding us to embrace life with the same joy and passion that he did every day. Donnie’s journey through life was a testament to the power of humor, the strength of character, and the depth of love. He will be remembered not only for the life he lived but also for the countless lives he touched with his kindness and laughter. Rest in peace, Donnie; your memory will forever be etched in our hearts.
