Dolores Christine Rushin, 93, of Youngtown, AZ, formerly of Chillicothe, IL died at 1:30 p.m. MST on Wednesday, Aug, 20, 2025 at Ventana Winds Retirement Home. She was born December 11, 1931 to Paul and Myrtle (Roach) Clark. She married Paul Ray Rushin on Jan, 12, 1951 in Poplar Bluff, Mo. He preceded her in death on January 18, 2018.
Mrs. Rushin is the mother of five children; Paula “Suzie” Hinch of McKinney, TX, Greg (and Cynthia) Rushin of Plano, TX, Michael (and Sue) Rushin of Anthem, AZ, and Jeff Rushin of Phoenix, AZ. Her daughter, Stacie Biggs, preceded her in death. Mrs. Rushin has 12 great grandchildren.
Mrs. Rushin grew up on a farm in Southeast Missouri in the 1930’s. Her mother died when she was 12 years old. She helped to raise her younger siblings, Billy, Loretta and Beatrice.
She attended Catholic all-girls boarding school at Ursuline Academy her freshman and sophomore years in high school. She transferred to Poplar Bluff High School her junior year and met her future husband – Paul Ray Rushin – on the country school bus.
She has 10 grandchildren; Ryan (and Melissa) Hinch of Emory, TX, Ami (and Dr. Jeff) George of McKinney, TX, Stephen Rushin of Chicago, IL, Robert (and Derek) Rushin of Nevada City, CA, Paul (and Jill) Rushin of Langhorne, PA, Dean Rushin (and Jessica) of Phoenix, AZ, Jenna Rushin (and Derek Dandridge) of Phoenix, AZ, Adam (and Kim) Biggs of Austin, TX, Andrew Biggs of New Braunfels, TX, and Abbie Kendall (and Evan) of South Dakota.
She was an avid golfer and longtime member of Lacon Country Club and Arrowhead Country Club. She had a good sense of humor, quick with a joke or pulling pranks on her friends. She was a rural mail carrier for the Chillicothe Post Office in the 1970s. She was a real estate agent for Traders Realty in Dunlap. She served on the Zoning Board of Appeals for the City of Chillicothe. She taught CCD religion class at St. Edward Grade School in Chillicothe.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, August 30, 2025 at 11am at St. Edward Catholic Church in Chillicothe. Visitation will be held on Friday, August 29, 2025 from 6pm to 8pm at Weber-Hurd Funeral Home in Chillicothe. Burial will be at Chillicothe City Cemetery. Memorials in her name may be made to the Billy Galindo Inspirational Scholarship.
