Delbert Kreimeyer

Delbert Kreimeyer, 88, of Ackley, passed away on Wednesday, July 30, 2025, at Hansen Family Hospital in Iowa Falls. Visitation will be from 4-6 p.m. on Sunday, August 3, 2025, at the Sietsema Funeral Home in Ackley. A private family service will take place with burial in Oakwood Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are under the guidance of the Sietsema Funeral Home in Ackley.

Delbert was born on October 7, 1936, in Ackley, Iowa, to Carl and Martha (Fritz) Kreimeyer. He graduated from Ackley High School and completed boiler technician certification from NIACC.

On July 24, 1955, Delbert was united in marriage to his beloved wife, Barbara at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, IA. Delbert worked for Fritz Furniture, Fritz Funeral Home, was the District Sales Manager for Moorman Manufacturing, farmed, did industrial maintenance for Chiquita Foods until retiring in 2011 but continued to help Keninger Farms in the spring and fall. As his son-in-law says “A man who could repair any type of motorized or electrical device and operate all types of heavy equipment. I will miss his knowledge of agricultural and Ackley area history along with his knowledge of current affairs.”- Pat Scallon. He taught his son but also his daughters how to use tools and to fix things which made them independent and handy around the house.

Delbert was a member of the Ackley Saddle Club and the First United Methodist Church of Ackley where he was also Sunday School Superintendent. He served as treasurer for Jaycees and clerk for Etna Township Trustees from 2006 to 2023.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara; son, Kevin (Teresa) Kreimeyer of Zearing; daughters Debera (Dale) Keninger of Ackley, Lorri (Pat) Scallon of Ackley and Nelinn Kreimeyer of Ackley, grandchildren Doug Keninger of Iowa Falls, Danelle (Nick) Kearin of Madison, SD, Denae (Eric) Bass of Baltic, SD, Nathaniel (Michelle) Kreimeyer of North Branch, MN and Arleigh (Mike) DeWall of Parkersburg, great-grandchildren Lucas and Emersyn Bass, Alice and Will DeWall, Eli Keninger and Riley and Cole Kearin, siblings Vern (Julie) Kreimeyer of Ackley, Mavis (Larry) Miller of Johnston, Lee (Carol) Kreimeyer of Ackley and Carla (Steve) Boorsma of Waterloo, IL, sister-in-law Judy Kreimeyer of Aplington, brother-in-law Jon (Mary) Heitland of Iowa Falls, and special friends of Barb and Delbert, Kyle Luiken and family of Wiota, IA.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother Ivan; mother- and father-in-law Elwood and Neva Heitland; sister- and brother-in-law Jean and Bob Lindaman and their son Brett; and granddaughter-in-law Jaime Keninger.
