It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Debra “Debbie” Jean Joseph, 73, of Altoona, who went to be with the Lord with family by her side on May 15, 2025 after a brief but courageous battle with cancer.
Born on February 21, 1952, in Altoona, Debbie was the daughter of the late Aleck C. Joseph and Marie C. (Karl) Joseph. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Barbara A. Forshey in 2020.
Debbie graduated in 1970 from Altoona Area High School. Upon graduation she entered the work force as a waitress at Tom & Joe’s, a family owned and operated diner in downtown Altoona. She was also the manager of Ajay’s for 25 years. Prior to retirement, she worked at Sheetz for many years in various positions.
Debbie is survived by her sister and best friend, Linda L. Moyer (Robert); Brother-in-law James A. Forshey; Beloved nephews and nieces: Matthew J. (Rachael) Moyer; Jamie L. Forshey; Christy M. DeGennaro; Brian J. Forshey; Dana A. (Tim) Johnston; Alicia M. (Rick) Luchini; Kyle J. (Kate) DeGennaro; Haden J. (Kira) DeGennaro; Bailey T. (Sami) Kudlawiec; Blake D. Johnston; Corey D. (Caitlin) Johnston and Ethan T. Johnston; Great nieces Kate, Carly, Caroline & Claire Moyer; Alivia, Vivian & Elaina Luchini and Giselle & Giuliana DeGennaro. Debbie also leaves behind many cousins who were very special to her.
Debbie enjoyed spending time with her family, watching Penn State and Steelers football games, coloring and playing cards with the residents at Blair Tower, many who became close friends.
A viewing and funeral service will be held at St. George Antiochian Orthodox Christian Church, Altoona, on Thursday, May 22, 2025 at 10:30 a.m. with the Rev. Fr. Isaac Danevicius presiding. Arrangements by The Good Funeral Home Inc. Interment at Alto Reste Park, Altoona
In lieu of flowers, those wishing to honor Debbie’s memory may contribute to St. George Antiochian Orthodox Christian Church. Your donations will serve as a testament to Debbie’s life, reflecting her faith and the impact on those who were privileged to have known her.
Debbie, a beacon of kindness and loyalty, will forever live in our hearts. Her legacy will continue to inspire and guide us. While we mourn the loss of her physical presence, we find peace in knowing that her spirit lives on through the love she shared with us.
