David Clayton Wood, age 57, of Bloomsdale, Missouri, passed away Monday, September 8, 2025, at Mercy Hospital Jefferson in Festus, Missouri. He was born December 16, 1967, in St. Louis, Missouri, the son of the late Evelyn Bernadine (nee Mullen) Wood and the late Gerald Thomas Wood.
He is survived by his wife Rachel Ann (nee Miller) Wood; children Stephanie Marie (Carter Dinges) Wood of Park Hills, Missouri, Andrew Clayton (Nutchaphatra) Wood of O’Fallon, Illinois and Kara Ann Wood of Festus; grandchildren Aiden Clayton Wood and Emma Rose Wood; siblings Dan (Karen) Wood of Desoto, Missouri and Karen (David) Campbell of Bismarck, Missouri.
He worked as a delivery driver for UPS and was a member of Teamsters Local #688. David loved playing the drums; he played since he was 3 years old. He played in various bands, his latest band being the Catalyst with his older brother Dan Wood, his best friend Ben Bissell, and Austin Schoen. David loved spending time with his family, grilling barbeque, and staying up late playing rummy, or Yahtzee with them. David was an avid St. louis Blues fan since the late 70’s and was ecstatic when they won the Stanley Cup in 2019. David was a firm Man of God. His faith in the Lord Jesus radiated off him and he followed the Lord boldly. He loved his church 2nd Baptist and was a very proud member of the church. David spent a lot of time reading God’s word and making sure to spread God’s word.
Visitation will be Saturday, September 13, 2025 from 10:00 A.M. until time of service at 12:00 P.M at 2nd Baptist Church, 723 Horine Road, Festus, officiated by Pastor James King. Interment in Rose Lawn Memorial Gardens, Crystal City, Missouri. Vinyard Funeral Home handling arrangements.
