David Dobrzynski

Early on the morning of July 31, 2025, the world lost a remarkable man. David Mark Dobrzynski passed away surrounded by his loving family at the age of 67. Born in Rochester, New York, in1957 to Dr. Francis and Theresa Dobrzynski, Dave was a lifelong resident of Rochester. After graduating from Bishop Kearney High School, Dave graduated summa cum laude from Syracuse University (leading to a lifetime love of its sports teams), and from the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry as a member of Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society.

Dave’s career as an internal medicine doctor was extraordinary. For more than 40 years, Dave cared for thousands of patients at Pulsifer Medical Associates. Everywhere you went, someone knew Dr. D. He had a brilliant mind, but more importantly he possessed an inherent humanism – a unique, indescribable ability to connect with his patients. His passing leaves an enormous void

in the community that will long be felt.

Dave’s was a life well-lived, full of beach trips to the Caribbean and fishing trips to Canada, (many, many) bottles of fine wine, and for the past 10 years, weekends spent at his beloved cottage on Skaneateles Lake. He was loved fiercely by nine dogs over the course of 30 years. An avid golfer, Dave played thousands of rounds with family and close friends at Monroe Golf Club, where he was a member for more than 40 years, and at numerous courses throughout the world.

A chance encounter on the floor of Strong Memorial Hospital in 1982 led to the first of Dave’s greatest joys: his wife and best friend, Beth Anne. Dave and Beth were inseparable for 43 years. Rarely finding one without the other – whether at the grocery store or on the golf course – Dave and Beth found contentment in all of life, the major events but also the simple moments. And their journey led to the other of Dave’s greatest joys – his and Beth’s greatest success: their four children, David Jr., Benjamin (Larissa), Sarah (Cameron Betterley), and Anna (Peter) Rasmussen. Dave was there for all of their biggest accomplishments: sporting events, graduations, weddings, and the births of eight cherished grandchildren: “Papa” to “little buggers” Connor, Ellie, Maximus, Zoey, Knox, Penelope, Caleb, and Grace. Before he passed, he was gearing up for the next, greatest chapter of his life: retirement, more adventures with Beth, even finer wine, and teeing up the golf ball and reeling in big ones with his grandkids.

Even in Dave’s final days, his characteristic humor, his unending positivity, and his quiet yet insatiable need to put others first never waned. There was simply no one like him.

In addition to his immediate family, Dave is survived by his sisters, Diane O’Neil, Marsha (Roger Breedlove), and Judith, his in-laws, Charles and Elaine Maginness, other family members, and numerous friends (he was especially fond of his fishing and golfing buddies). Dave is predeceased by his parents and brother Robert (Patricia).

The family will forever be grateful to the staff of Wilmot Cancer Center and Strong Memorial Hospital.

The family will hold calling hours on Tuesday, August 5th, from 4 pm to 7 pm, at Anthony Funeral Chapel, (2305 Monroe Avenue, Rochester, New York), followed by a service on Wednesday, August 6th, 11 am, at Christ Church Pittsford, (36 S. Main Street, Pittsford, New York), with a reception to follow at Monroe Golf Club. In lieu of flowers, consider a donation in his memory to Wilmot Cancer Center or Skaneateles Lake Association, or plant a tree in your backyard – he would have enjoyed it.
