David “Chris” Cady Jr.

David

This world turns with a little less creativity as of July 14, 2025 when David “Chris” Christian Cady died peacefully at home. He was 72 years old and resided in Evart, Michigan.

Born in Ypsilanti, Michigan, Chris lived a life shaped by quiet strength, deep curiosity, and a love for both the people and places that mattered most to him. Though he traveled widely in earlier years—holding a lifelong fondness for Hawaii— his truest joy was in the simpler moments, working with his hands, tending his plants, and spending time in the calm stillness of his shop.

Chris was a man of few words and many gifts. A master wood craftsman, he could transform raw materials into objects of remarkable beauty and precision. Equally at home among his tools or his plants, he brought the same care and creativity to everything he touched—whether carving from wood or coaxing blooms from the earth.

Though he lived quietly, those who knew him never doubted his love. His calm presence, dry wit, and unwavering thoughtfulness left a lasting impression.

Chris is survived by: his sisters, Charlene (Joel) Perron of Massachusetts, Rosanna Patton of Evart, and Brenda (Gary) Nowak of Arkansas; as well as his nieces, Layla Nordhoff (Jeffrey) of Cedar Springs, and Melissa Rohen (James) of Evart, and two great nephews and extended family. He was preceded in death by: his parents, David C. Cady and Barbara L. (Brown) Cady, and his younger brother, Phillip L. Cady.

A simple graveside memorial service will be held at Sylvan Township Cemetery on Saturday, July 26th at 5:30 PM. Cremation and care have been entrusted to Corey Funeral Home in Evart, Michigan. Friends and family are invited to share memories and condolences at coreyfuneralhome.com.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Chris’ honor to the National Audubon Society, a tribute to his lifelong love of the natural world.
