Daniel “Muzzy” DeCarlo

Daniel ‘Muzzy’ DeCarlo, a longtime resident of Port Chester, passed away peacefully on November 5, 2024 at Greenwich Hospital. He was 98, born on January 3, 1926 to Antonio and Anna DeCarlo.

Muzzy graduated from Port Chester High School in 1944. He immediately served in the Army Air Corp from 1944 – 1946. Stationed in Panama and Guatemala and earned the American Campaign Medal, Good Conduct Medal and WWII Victory Medal as a Corporal.

He was married to his beloved wife Lois Chipchase DeCarlo (predeceased) for 71 yrs.

Muzzy was a member of the Knights of Columbus, The Port Chester Old Timers Association, and a member of the Union of Operating Engineers of Westchester County.

He was owner/operator with brother ‘Abe’ DeCarlo for A. DeCarlo & Sons for 68 yrs, retiring in 2008.

Muzzy is survived by his son Daniel DeCarlo Jr. (Katie), daughters Maria Zygman and Dayna DeCarlo. Grandchildren Talia Bayham (Blake), Rebecca Moraiz (Joaquin). Great Grandchildren Maddox & Lennox Bayham.

He was one of a kind and someone who could always count on unconditionally when needed. He had many great friends who were like family to him. A beloved husband, father and friend. He loved family and always told great stories of the good old days. He was an outstanding 3 sport athlete and offered his endless knowledge to anyone. He loved watching the Yankees, his tomato garden and working a Backhoe like one else.

Services are at Joseph Tutera Funeral Home.

Thursday, November 6, 2024 at 4-8pm and Funeral will be held at Friday 10:00am, Internment will be at St. Mary’s Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, and monetary gifts, plant a beautiful tree in Muzzy’s memory.
