Cynthia “Cindy” Johnson

Cynthia Sue Johnson, age 70, the daughter of Harold Eugene “Gene” and Leona Dean (Brammer) Allen, was born December 20, 1954, at Council Bluffs, Iowa. She left this life on Tuesday, June 24, 2025, at her Leon, Iowa home.

Cindy grew up and attended school, graduating from Carson – Macedonia High School in 1972. She married Thomas Henry. They were blessed with two sons, Steve and Dustin. At age 32, Thomas suffered a fatal heart attack.

Cindy met Larence Leroy “Butch” Johnson in Stanton, Iowa. The two were married on March 20, 1992, in Villisca, Iowa. Cindy, Butch, and her two sons, welcomed their daughter and sister, Misti. The family made their home in both Iowa and Missouri before moving to Leon, Iowa in 2000. Cindy worked at Farm Pro, Terrace Park, and Central Decatur Schools with Cardinal Muscle. In her free time, she enjoyed reading romance novels, doing word search puzzles, watching the Golden Girls on television, and spending time with the grandchildren.

Cindy loved butterflies; her house was full of pictures and ornaments of them. She also loved warm weather that was above 75 degrees and watching birds and squirrels in her back yard. Some might say she had a spicy attitude and was never afraid to say what was on her mind. She was also one of the most honest people anyone could meet. Her family loved all those attributes about her.

Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, Thomas Henry; son, Dustin Henry; and brother, Tracy Core. Survivors include her husband, Butch Johnson of Leon, Iowa; children, Steve & Andrea Henry of Gilbert, Iowa and Misti & Brian “BT” Hearron of Leon; seven grandchildren, Alexis, Haley, Jaedyn, Xander, Bentley, Breckin, and Mallory; siblings, Michael & Debbie Allen of Harlingen, Texas, Marlin & Shirley Allen of Atlantic, Iowa, Mark & Pam Allen of Shelby, Iowa, Scott & Sharon Allen of Houston, Texas, and Taunjia & Jim Higdon of Leon; nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at the Slade – O’Donnell Funeral Home in Leon, Iowa at 10 a.m. Monday, June 30, 2025. Burial will follow in the Leon Cemetery. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Sunday with family receiving friends 4 – 5 p.m.
