Craig Lewis Heilman

January 10, 1945 – July 27, 2025

Craig Lewis Heilman, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and faithful follower of Jesus Christ, passed peacefully into the arms of his Savior on July 27, 2025 in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, after a year-long battle with cancer. He was 80 years old.

Craig was born on January 10, 1945 in Racine, Wisconsin, to Walter Lewis Heilman and Lillian Schleuter Heilman. He graduated from the University of Idaho in 1968 with a degree in Civil Engineering and began his career with Peter Kiewit Sons. In 1977, Craig founded C.L. Heilman Co., a bridge-building company known for its excellence and integrity.

On November 27, 1984, Craig gave his life to Jesus, a decision that transformed the rest of his days. He began attending Calvary Chapel Twin Falls, where he met and later married Janet Gayle (Shockey) White in 1986. Together they welcomed their son, James, who would eventually take over the family business in 2023. Craig also cherished his two daughters, Courtney McKinnie and Brandi Rasmussen, from his previous marriage to Pam Wilson.

Craig loved God’s Word and faithfully taught Bible studies for many years. His life was marked by service, humility, and deep joy in the Lord. He spent his retirement in Coeur d’Alene and Slate Creek, Idaho, surrounded by nature and family. He enjoyed fishing, time in Hawaii, and especially moments with his grandchildren.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Jan; daughters, Courtney and Brandi; son, James; and ten grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his grandson, Isaiah Wall. Craig’s legacy of faith, hard work, and love for family and friends will live on in all who knew him.

A service will be held at 10:00AM, Saturday, August 16, 2025 at Candlelight Christian Fellowship (5725 N. Pioneer Dr. Coeur d’Alene, Idaho 83815).

“Well done, good and faithful servant.” – Matthew 25:23
