Corey Ott
- June 3, 2025

Corey Philip Ott, known affectionately to friends and family as Corey, passed away at the age of 39 on May 30, 2025, due to a tragic traffic accident in Gila Bend, Arizona. Born on April 11, 1986, in St. Joseph, Missouri, Corey was a beacon of intelligence, love, and selflessness throughout his life—a life that, though cut short, was lived with an extraordinary passion and zest.
Corey’s early years were spent in the heart of St. Joseph, where he was a proud graduate of Benton High School. His innate curiosity and dedication to serving others led him to enlist in the US Navy in search of big adventure. After leaving the Navy, Corey’s entrepreneurial spirit took flight as he started and successfully ran several businesses, most notably as a locksmith, where he became a trusted figure in communities across Arizona and Colorado. He literally traveled around the world: throughout the United States, and across Europe and Asia.
Those who knew Corey could attest to his unwavering devotion to his beloved wife, Flor. His commitment to her was unparalleled, and he poured his heart and soul into their life together. He was a cherished son to his parents, Bob and Sherrie, a supportive brother to Jordan and his wife Megan, and a favorite among his dozens of aunts and uncles, as well as his numerous cousins. The family bond was of utmost importance to Corey, and he nurtured these relationships with care and affection.
Corey’s interests were as diverse as they were intense. His fondness for tattoos made his image distinctive. He had an innate ability to connect with people from all walks of life, offering help whenever and wherever it was needed. His love for extreme sports was matched only by his talent for working with his hands—be it fixing a broken gadget or cultivating a garden that was the envy of his neighbors. His artistic side shone through in the exquisite jewelry he crafted, transforming precious metals and gemstones into wearable art that reflected his meticulous attention to detail and his creative spirit. In all his endeavors, Corey’s intelligence was evident. He approached challenges with a level-headedness that inspired confidence in those around him.
His loving nature was the foundation upon which he built his life—never missing an opportunity to express his affection or to make those he cared about feel valued. Selflessness was perhaps his most defining characteristic; Corey was always the first to offer assistance, asking nothing in return. As we mourn the loss of Corey Philip Ott, we also celebrate the profound impact he had on the lives of so many.
His legacy is one of love, service, and the relentless pursuit of excellence in all aspects of life. Corey’s memory will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know him, and his spirit will endure through the countless lives he touched with his kindness and generosity. Though he has left us far too soon, the memories of his remarkable life will be treasured forever.
