By Denise Clodjeaux — Carson City Community Development Director, Hope Sullivan, will be the guest speaker at the next Rotary Club of Carson City meeting. The public is invited to attend the meeting which takes place Tuesday, Nov. 4, at noon, in the Brewery Arts Center’s Grand Ballroom.
Sullivan will discuss current land development and ongoing community growth, as well as an overview of what this construction is comprised of and where it is occurring. “Carson City is unique in that it has a growth management ordinance,” she explains. “As part of program, the Growth Management Commission meets annually and reviews the status of essential resources (water, sewer, sheriff, fire, traffic, drainage, schools, and parks and recreation.”
Based on this information, the Commission and makes a recommendation to the Board regarding the maximum number of housing starts and non-residential water use thresholds for the following year. “In the decade I have been with Carson City, the city has not reached the allowed number of housing starts.”
Anyone interested in attending the luncheon and learning more about the Master Plan should email carsoncitynvrotary@gmail.com. The Brewery Arts Center is located at 449 West King Street in Carson City.
