Clifton Burns, Jr.

Clifton Eugene Burns, Jr., 84, of Petal, passed away peacefully at his home on Monday, September 8, 2025. A graveside service will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, September 10, 2025 in Highland Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until 11:15 a.m. at Moore Funeral Home in Hattiesburg.

Mr. Burns was a member of Greens Creek Baptist Church. He worked as a supervisor for Mississippi Tank Company for 40 years until his retirement in 2006. He and his loving wife, Barbara, shared a passion for camping and enjoyed many trips together. He also loved watching dirt track racing, wrestling, and westerns.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Burns; his son, Curtis Burns; his parents, Clifton and Lou Ethel Burns; his sisters, Dixie Gibbs and Bernice Pulliam; and his brother, Prentiss Burns.

He is survived by his children, Debbie Hudson (Gary) of Petal, Margaret Nelson (Ken) of Petal, and Mark Burns (Shawna) of Tulsa, OK; 9 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren; his brothers, Haskel Burns (Helen) of Ellisville and Mack Burns (Vera) of Petal; his sister, Flossie Ezell of Fairbanks, AK; and numerous nieces and nephews.
