Foundation of a Life Well Lived
Cliffton Stephen Myers was born on November 22, 1952, in Chicago, IL to the union of
Gerald and Mattie Myers. Cliffton was the third of 6 children born to this union. He was
proceeded in death by his parents.
Cliffton was the product of Christian teachings and accepted Christ as his lord and
savior at an early age. Cliffton joined Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist church under the
pastorate of Rev. J.A. Williams who was later replaced 1968 by Pastor T.L. Barrett Jr.
While attending Mt. Zion, Cliffton was baptized and was an active member of the
children’s church, Youth for Christ Choir and participated in the weekly bible study
classes.
The Journey of Growth
Cliffton attended Lewis Champlin grammar school and went on to attend Englewood
High School. He was drafted into the U.S. Army in April 1974 where he eventually was
deployed to serve in the Vietnam war. Cliffton was honored and later received a
National Defense Service Medal for his service. He continued his education at Kennedy
King College where he gained an associate’s degree in automotive technology.
A Life Built on Passion and Purpose
Prior to being drafted to the U.S. Army, Cliffton worked as a jewelry consultant on 63 rd
and Halsted. He later became a parking attendant and was promoted to a management
position at Regis Parking Garage where he remained for over 20 years till his
retirement.
Love That Knew No Bounds
Cliffton met the love his life, Greta while attending Kennedy King College. Cliffton and
Greta were joined in holy matrimony on May 28,1983 and together they raised two
children, Tiffany and Aaron. Soon after, they began attending Mt. Carmel Children of
God Baptist Church under the leadership of Greta’s brother Rev. Walter Butts. Cliffton
was diligent in every role held at Mt. Carmel. He was an Usher, Chairman of the Trustee
Board, Male Chorus participant, Co-Chairman for Men and Women’s Day. Cliffton also
took time out his schedule to give back to the community by participating in and leading
activities such Picnic In the Park and holiday festivities. Cliffton often worked alongside
Greta and heavily supported her as she faithfully served in the ACLC ministry. He was
the heart of his family, always ensuring that he was present for every milestone – big or
small. His presence unwavering, and his love extended far beyond his biological family,
embracing everyone he mentored, inspired, and ministered to with unrelenting kindness
and wisdom.
A Legacy That Lives On
On May 27, 2025, God saw fit to bring Cliffton home to Him and into his glory where we
know he will continue to minister and serve as an angel. He leaves to cherish his
precious memory, his daughters Tiffany who proceeded him in death, Sharon(Law), his
son Aaron (Stephanie); his siblings; Vaughn (Jack), Gerald Jr., Dianne, Christopher
(Clarissa) and Brenda; Nieces and nephews; Brendisia, Qudessia (Kevin), Vanessa,
James III ( Ann ),Sharde’ (Patrick), Raphael (Thea) , Angelina(Jad) and Jon.
Grandchildren; Lawton, Laela, Logan, Carlin, Carlos, Victoria, Savannah, Elijah,
Matthew, Noah, Jonah and Anastasia; 2 great grandchildren, Aubrey Rose and
Malachi. A host of great nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins from near and far
whom he loved and adored.
