Clifford Ray “ Cliff” Lanker, 70, of Carey passed away Friday, September 26, 2025 at the Bridge Hospice Care Center after a short illness.
Cliff was born on July 25, 1955 at Park AFB, CA to Eugene and Jeannie Lanker. They returned to Carey when he was 1 month old, crossing the Golden Gate Bridge.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Penny Lynch. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Pamela Lanker, a daughter Heather (Chris) Truman of McComb, a son Christopher (Hannah) Lanker of Carey; 7 grandchildren: Cody (Amber) Truman, Chance (Meranda) Truman, Kirsten (Brett) Hohman, Justin (Paige) Lanker, Cheyene (Aaron) Truman, Colton Lanker and Cason Lanker; 6 great-grandchildren: Kadince Truman, Kayden Sites, Case Truman, Payzlee Truman, Ryker Hohman and Walker Hohman and siblings: Pam (John) Shumaker of Bowling Green and Dwayne Lanker of Carey.
Cliff retired from National Lime & Stone after 35 years of service and was honored as Man of Year in 1997. He also worked for Carey Pizza Palace for ten years. He also retired from Guardian Glass. Cliff was President of the Eagles for 21 years and also went through all the chairs for District 13 F.O.E. and Northwest Ohio Golf Outing Chairman for 17 years. He was the Adj. of S.A.L Squadron 344 for 31 years. He went through all 5th district chairs, MIA POW state chairman for 2 years. Cliff was also the Past secretary of VFW Men’s Aux. 3759. He loved NASCAR, Cleveland Browns, Ohio State Buckeyes and Bud Light.
A Time to Gather and Celebrate Cliff’s life will be on Tuesday, October 7, 2025 from 4:00-7:00 PM with an Eagles Service at 7:00 PM in the Stombaugh-Batton & Snyder Funeral Home, Carey.
A Special Thanks to Dwayne Lanker for helping care for Cliff over the last several years and the staff of Bridge Hospice.
