Cleopatra Coffey, age 63, passed away peacefully on June 23, 2025, at Wynn Hospital, after a long illness.
Born on April 27, 1962, in Naro, Sicily, Cleopatra was the cherished daughter of the late Stefano and Onofria Nora Beddia-Fedele. As a young child, she emigrated to the United States with her family in 1967, a journey that marked the beginning of a life defined by resilience, deep-rooted family values, and devoted to those she loved.
Cleopatra’s life was a beautiful blend of tradition and kindness. Raised in a close-knit family, she carried the warmth of her Sicilian heritage throughout her life, enriching her community and family with the timeless values of love, hard work, and hospitality. She was known for her extraordinary talent in Italian cooking, a skill she refined working in the kitchens of Bobby McGee’s Bar and Restaurant and The Vescio’s Franklyn Hotel. Her dishes were not just food but expressions of love — recipes handed down through generations, prepared with care and shared generously. Her culinary gifts brought people together, making celebrations brighter and everyday meals more special.
Beyond her talents in the kitchen, Cleopatra was deeply dedicated to nurturing the next generation. For over 20 years, she worked as a licensed childcare provider, offering a safe, loving, and supportive environment for children to grow and thrive. Many remember her as a second mother, a trusted guide, and a source of unwavering encouragement.
On November 7, 2010, Cleopatra married Joshua Coffey, her devoted partner and companion. Together, they created a home filled with warmth, laughter, and enduring love.
Cleopatra was a woman of quiet strength and grace. Her home was the heart of family gatherings, where the aroma of her cooking mingled with the sounds of laughter and stories shared across generations. She took great pride in her family and was a constant source of support and encouragement.
She is survived by her loving husband, Joshua Coffey; her children, Richard Bohning III (Elizabeth), Felicia Bohning (David), and Onofria Nora Felix (Diego); and her nine beloved grandchildren: Joseph Quinlan, Giuseppe Bohning, Ariana Bohning, Emma Maret, Aubry Bohning, Curtis Maret, Dominic Felix, Mia Felix, and Matteo Falitico. Cleopatra also leaves behind her siblings: Luigi Fedele (Marina), Maria Manna, Vita Puma, Francesca Dainotto, Silvana Mattioli (Michael), and Yolanda Iodice. She is remembered fondly by many extended family members and friends whose lives she touched with kindness and generosity especially Joseph Fiorenza, and special nephew Luigi Fedele whom she always considered her sons.
Cleopatra was predeceased by her parents, Stefano and Onofria Nora Fedele; her former husband, Richard Bohning Jr.; her grandson, Diego Nicolas Felix; and her sister, Carmela Lapuma.
Her legacy is one of love, generosity, and resilience — a legacy that lives on in the hearts of her family and the many people who were fortunate to know her. Though she is deeply missed, her spirit continues to inspire all who loved her.
