Cheryl Phyllis Lindholm (Markle), 79, of Lindsborg, passed away quietly in her home on Tuesday, May 13, 2025. Cheryl was born September 20, 1945, in Salina, Kansas, to Clee and Frances Markle.

Cheryl grew up in Salina until her junior year of high school when her family moved to Sublette, Kansas where she graduated in 1963. She went to Kansas University Medical School where she earned her LPN. Cheryl worked in research and nursing at several hospitals before moving to Lindsborg to work at Bethany Home. She served in the nursing field for 45 years, 32 of those years were at Bethany Home where she was lovingly known as “Sarge”.

Cheryl moved to Lindsborg in 1976 with her two children, Rhonda & Brent Foley. She married Robert “Bob” Lindholm on April 14, 1979, and gained two more children, Chris & Karey Lindholm. Throughout their married years, they enjoyed boating, camping, and fishing. Cheryl enjoyed the cruises they would go on and loved to travel and visit new places. Getting together with her cousins every year was a highlight for her for many years. Cheryl loved her flowers and had an

amazing green thumb. She enjoyed cross-stitch and blessed many with her creations. Cheryl loved her dogs and had many different dogs, but Dakota, an Akita, was her favorite. Cheryl regularly attended the First Baptist Church in Lindsborg.

Survivors include her loving husband, Robert “Bob”; her children: Rhonda Foley of Indianapolis, Indiana; Chris Lindholm(Tammy) of Lindsborg; Brent Foley(Lori) of Lanesville, Indiana; Karey Lindholm Knauss(Donnie) of Abilene, Kansas. Grandchildren include: Lucas Knauss (Jackie); Ashleigh Foley Voignier (Zach); Stephen Foley; Rebecca Knauss Lahr(Isaiah); Serenity Knauss Duran (Armando); Hannah Knauss and great-grandson, Henry; as well as nieces, nephews,cousins, and extended family members.

Cheryl was preceded in death by her parents and Gretchen Peterson, her sister and best friend. Also preceding her was a niece, Kristina Peterson, and a granddaughter, Bethany Knauss.

Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Friday, May 16, 2025 at the First Baptist Church of Lindsborg, 1101 E. Swensson, Lindsborg.

The funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m. at the church with Pastor Bruce Burfield officiating. Interment will follow at Smoky Hill Cemetery at Coronado Heights.

The family suggests in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be given to the First Baptist Church of Lindsborg, Salina Animal Services 329 N 2nd St, Salina, KS 67401, or Gentiva Hospice 900 E 1st W1, McPherson, KS 67460 in loving memory of Cheryl.
