Charles Vaughn

Charles Hoyt Vaughn, of Apalachicola, Florida, born August 31, 1951, passed away peacefully at home with his family by his side on August 7, 2025, at the age of 73. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, veteran, and a cherished member of his community.

Hoyt is preceded in death by his parents, Elsie and Alvin Vaughn. He is survived by his devoted wife of 45 years, Gracie Coombs Vaughn; his children, Jennifer (Michael) Graves and Bradley (Renee) Vaughn; grandchildren, Breelyn, Merritt, Ansley, and Bo; sister, Patricia (Earl) Duggar of Apalachicola, FL; half-brother, Dwight (Karen) Vaughn of Winterville, GA; and stepbrothers, Paul (Kathrine) Griffith of Bogart, GA and Thomas (Lucy) Griffith of Hartwell, GA.

Hoyt proudly served in the U.S. Coast Guard, where his sense of duty and commitment to service were deeply respected. Afterward, he spent many years in the construction industry, known for his skill, honesty, craftmanship, and dedication.

For the past six years, Hoyt worked at ACE Hardware, where he developed an appreciation for both the work and the customers. His coworkers became like family, and he found great joy and purpose in being part of their team.

His memory lives on in the hearts of those he held dear and in the community he helped build.

A Celebration of Life will be held on September 6, 2025, at 1:00 PM at Living Waters Church, 1580 Bluff Road, Apalachicola, Florida.Visitation will begin at 12:30 PM. All who knew and loved Hoyt are welcome to attend.
