Charles Tackett Jr.

Charles Tackett Jr., age 78, of Winchester, Kentucky, and formerly of Pikeville, Kentucky passed away Monday July 7, 2025 at his home. Charles was born in Pikeville, Kentucky August 8, 1946 the son of the late Charles Wellman Tackett and Josephine Bowling Tackett Osborne. Also preceding him in death by his wife, Deborah Ruth Justice Tackett, a sister, Bonnie Ann Smallwood and a brother, Ronald Tackett.

Charles retired from Ford in Louisville, Kentucky after ten years, and retired from Toyota in Georgetown, Kentucky after thirty-four years as the production manager. He was a member of the Liberty Free Will Baptist Church in Pikeville. Charles graduated from Eastern Kentucky University with a masters in Geology.

Mr. Tackett’s survivors include, his son, Dr. Adam Clark Akers and his wife Nicki of Pikeville, Kentucky, his daughter, Tasha Lanea Harris and her husband Shayne of Winchester, Kentucky, five grandchildren, Whitney Branham and her husband Braxton of Virgie, Kentucky, Brianna Akers of Pikeville, Kentucky, Hannah Grace Akers of Pikeville, Kentucky, Alexis Akers of Pikeville, Kentucky, and Deklan Harris of Winchester, Kentucky, Two great grandchildren, Canaan Jace Branham and Oakley Mae Iricks, three brothers, Gene Wellman Tackett and his wife Cheryl of Beefhide, Kentucky, Terry Lee Tackett and his wife Teresa of Lexington, Kentucky, Robert Joseph Osborne and his wife Leisa of Richmond, Kentucky, and one sister, Carlene Haley of Winchester, Kentucky.

Visitation will be at the Liberty Free Will Baptist Church from 6:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M. both Wednesday and Thursday July 9th and 10th, with evenings services at 7:00 P.M. each evening.

The funeral service will be at the church 1:00 P.M. Friday July 11, 2025 with Dr. Adam Clark Akers officiating.

Burial will follow in Johnson Memorial Park, Pikeville Kentucky.

Pallbearers will be, Neil Justice, Shayne Harris, Michael Roberts, Gene Tackett, Terry Tackett, and Robert Osborne.
